Designer sniffs out branding opportunity

New York—The David Yurman brand will soon expand beyond jewelry cases.

The company announced on Oct. 5 that it had signed a global licensing deal with Clarins Group USA to produce beauty and fragrance products bearing the David Yurman name. The first fragrance initiative

will begin in the United States and Canada, though no launch date was given at press time.

"Clarins has achieved much success through high-quality standards and a commitment to maintaining brand integrity. David Yurman shares the same values," David Yurman CEO Paul Blum said in a statement. Clarins, a global distributor of skin care, makeup and fragrance products saw more than $1.2 billion in sales in 2005.
