Alfred Martin has succeeded Robert Wan as chairman of Perles de Tahiti.
The trade group named Martin, 48, its new chairman at its July board meeting.
Martin is the chairman and general manager of Poe Rava Nui, a 27-year-old pearl producing
group in French Polynesia.
Until this year, the Perles de Tahiti chairmanship rotated every two years among a representative of the French Polynesian government, the Professional Association of Pearl Producers (SPPP) and Poe Rava Nui.
But going forward, the post will rotate every two years among those three organization and two others: the Association of Small and Medium Size Producers in French Polynesia (SPMPPF) and Poe o Tahiti Nui (POTN). Both groups represent small- and medium-size pearl producers.
The current members of the Perles de Tahiti board of directors, office and general assembly are: First vice chairman Michael Yip; second vice chairman Robert Wan; general manager Martin Coeroli; French Polynesia government representatives Jacqui Drollet and Moehau Teriitahi; French Polynesia assembly representative Myron Mataoa; SPPP representatives Robert Wan, Dora Fourcade, Aline Baldassari-Bernard and Anapa Tauru; Poe Ravi Nui representatives Alfred Martin, Pierre Lehartel and Nilton Tuihani; POTN representatives Elisabeth Moe and Francis Laine; SPMPPF representative Georges Mataoa; honorary chairs Edouard Fritch, Anatila Bréaud, Pierre Lehartel, Franck Tehaamatai, Pierre a Teriitehau and Robert Wan; government representative William Vanizette; auditor Patrick Chaine; and meeting secretary Merehau Anastas.
