Tiffany & Co. obtained a preliminary injunction to prevent Philadelphia jewelry company Katz Imports Inc. from selling counterfeit "Tiffany" jewelry on eBay under the seller name "Diamondpaige" and through its Web site at www.pennsylvaniadiamondexchange.com. The matter was heard in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the law firm Duane Morris LLP reported.

Prior to the injunction, the District Court issued a seizure order, allowing the United States Marshals Service to seize diamond rings and bracelets from Katz Imports, as well as receipts from sales. Subsequent investigations revealed that Katz Imports engaged in numerous sales of counterfeit "Tiffany" jewelry on eBay over a period of years, generating more than $500,000, Duane Morris said.

Through its lawsuit against the company, Tiffany seeks to prevent further sales of counterfeit jewelry and strip Katz Imports of any profits from the sales of counterfeit jewelry.

Tiffany is represented by J. Scott Kramer of the law firm Duane Morris LLP in Philadelphia and James B. Swire of the law firm Dorsey and Whitney LLP in New York.
