New York (Aug. 27,1999)—Cond&#233 Nast's parent company recently purchased Fairchild Publications, forming a huge consumer magazine publishing alliance.

Cond&#233 Nast, publisher of Vogue, Brides, Vanity Fair, Architectural Digest and a host of other consumer fashion and lifestyle magazines that have become important names in jewelers' advertising budgets, will assume control of such Fairchild publications as W and Women's Wear Daily.

The terms of the sale were undisclosed and are subject to regulatory approval. Cond&#233 Nast is owned by Advance, with is controlled by the famous publishing Newhouse Family.

Fairchild was owned by the Walt Disney Co.
