Indian Diamond FactoryOpens in Siberian City
Siberia (Oct. 14, 1999)—Taking advantage of Russia's market-oriented reforms, an Indian businessman has been permitted to set up a diamond-polishing unit in Yakutsk, the capital of the Republic of Sakha.
Established by Indian entrepreneur Rajesh Gandhi, the Choron Diamond
Factory is the first of its kind in Russia. The factory will employ about 100 people, including 10 to 15 master cutters from India.
Russia's vast diamond industry holds immense potential for India's diamond cutting industry, said Rahul Kulshresth, trade counselor at the Indian embassy in Moscow.
