Planet Smoothie appointed Bryan O'Rourke president and CEO. O'Rourke has held key senior management positions with food industry leaders PJ's Coffee & Tea Co., Copeland's of New Orleans, and Churchs and Popeyes chicken brands, among others.

International Dairy Queen announced Michael Sullivan's resignation as president and CEO effective Jan. 1, 2001, and Charles Mooty's selection to succeed him. Sullivan will also assume responsibility as chairman of the board of directors on that date.

Carlson Hotels Worldwide Pres. & COO Eric Danziger has been elected to the supervisory board of SAS International Hotels, which includes Radisson SAS Hotels and Resorts, the sole franchisor for Radisson Hotels & Resorts in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

Barrington Williamson has been appointed corporate director of information technology at Franchise Concepts Inc., franchisor of Deck the Walls, Ashley Avery's Collectables, The Great Frame Up and Framing & Art Centre. Williamson will spearhead the company's e-commerce initiatives and brings more than a decade of experience to his position.

San Mateo Fastsigns franchisee Dave Skromme was chosen as an honored small-business person and had dinner with Vice President Al Gore and other small-business owners during Gore's recent visit to the Silicon Valley. The purpose of the lunch was for local business owners to express what they need to survive and prosper in today's business world. Skromme's message to the vice president was on the importance of training, "As technology continues to grow at an unbelievably rapid speed, small-business owners must keep up," he said. "Training is pertinent to the success and growth of my business and to many other businesses in the Silicon Valley."

The Sports Section youth sports and event photography franchise has promoted two corporate officers Joe Lindenmayer and Brian Pope. Lindenmayer moved from director of sales to vice president of sales and marketing, while Pope, the company's former controller will now serve as vice president of finance and operations.

Arthur Pressman, co-chair of the law firm Buchanan Ingersoll's Franchise Group, has been named to the International Who's Who in Franchising, published by Law Business Research Limited. A shareholder with the firm's Philadelphia office, Pressman was also recently named to the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution's Franchise Panel of Distinguished Neutrals and one of the best lawyers in the city by Philadelphia magazine.
