Check Out Your Channels

Saturday, June 16 2007

Speaking of channels -- as we have been for the past two days -- I was surprised by a list of places where retailers might advertise. It's included in the story, Crossing the Great Channel Divide, by Larry Kelley and Kyle Allen in the "Retailing Issues Letter," published by Texas A&M's Center for Retailing Studies.

It's Saturday, thus you may not be in the mood for reading, but this list may interest you -- and it's a quick read. And so, here is Kelley and Allen's list of:

Advertising Media Channel Options

Television                                           Product Articles

Home Shopping TV                               Free Customer Magazines

Product Placement (in movies)               Loose inserts

Movie Theater                                     Internet Advertising

Radio                                                 Internet Search

Newspapers                                        Company Web sites

Magazines                                          Outdoor

E-mail                                                Airport Advertising

Public Transit                                      Doctor’s Offices

800 Numbers                                       Direct Mail

Celebrity Endorsements                        Sports Sponsorships

Event Sponsorship                               Price Promotions

Product Samples

It's a lot. Maybe it has given you an idea.
