SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. & VAIL, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2001
OpenTable, Inc. (www.opentable.com) and Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE:MTN) today announced a partnership to revolutionize dining reservations within the resort industry. The customized
The OpenTable solution allows Beaver Creek diners to book dining reservations in advance of their vacation via either www.opentable.com or www.beavercreek.com. So far this season, OpenTable has been adopted by eight of the top restaurants in Beaver Creek: Allie's Cabin, Beano's Cabin, Beaver Creek ChopHouse, Grouse Mountain Grill, Rendezvous Bar & Grill, Saddleridge, Splendido and Toscanini. The OpenTable solution enables restaurants to automate reservation management, track visitor dining patterns for improved operations forecasting, enhance customer service via OpenTable's proprietary customer database solution, and develop and disseminate highly targeted marketing campaigns based on guest preferences.
In addition to these benefits, OpenTable and Vail Resorts are also partnering to provide in-room access to restaurant reservations for resort guests. With the launch of Vail Resort's proprietary eVill@ge Virtual Concierge system, resort guests will soon be able to search restaurants for availability and make instant online dinner reservations from the comfort of their hotel room or condo. The eVill@ge vision is for each room in Beaver Creek to be wired with high-speed Internet access and equipped with an in-room terminal so guests can book dinner, buy lift tickets, check the weather, surf the web and more.
OpenTable and Vail resorts are also exploring hotel installations of the OTConcierge solution, which would give hotels at the resort additional access to dining reservations both on- and off- property on behalf of their guests.
"Vail Resorts clearly shares OpenTable's commitment to utilizing technology to enhance the guest experience," said Jeff Edwards, OpenTable's CEO. "We look forward to helping Beaver Creek Resort lead the way in technological innovation and guest service. We fully expect that these solutions will become the standard for any resort that's interested in strategically marketing to their guests, improving customer relationships and enhancing revenue opportunities."
Adam Aron, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Vail Resorts, added, "We are very pleased to be partnering with OpenTable to revolutionize the resort experience for our guests. Beaver Creek was chosen for the launch of this exciting new technology because of its attractive demographic and manageable size. However, over the next few years we plan to roll out the OpenTable solution and the eVill@ge Virtual Concierge system across all of our resorts and potentially commercialize the solution for others in the resort industry."
