Heat-resistant PC with low yellowing.(MATERIALS)

A range of PC grades with increased heat resistance has been introduced by GE Advanced Materials.

Called Lexan Xtreme Heat (XHT), the copolymers are able to withstand continuous use at temperatures of 160-200[degrees]C, compared with 120-130[degrees]C for traditional PC. In addition, the grades are far more resistant to yellowing than other heatresistant grades of PC. Specifically, XHT loses only about 2% transmission after 1600 h of ageing at 160[degrees]C (in 2.5 mm samples), whereas most heat-resistant PCs lose about 15% under the same conditions.
