After reading Jan Ozer's article, "Sound On Site" in August EventDV [pp. 40-47], 1 must say I'm a bit confused. Several times, the Sony WCS999, Shure SM11, SM63, and SMEZB/O are referred to as being Stereo mics. These are not stereo mics. A stereo microphone would have two diaphragms and be wired to provide two discrete audio signal paths. Depending on how they are plugged into the recorder, these mics could input to both channels, but this provides a 2-channel signal, both channels being exactly the same, not stereo.
