South Carolina's New Traditional Neighborhood Community Breaks Ground and Opens Sales Center
CLEMSON, S.C. -- Construction has begun on the first phase of Patrick Square (www.patricksquare.com), a 415-home traditional neighborhood development in Clemson, S.C. Phase I encompasses 65 single-family
Patrick Square captures the era of 1920s America where people gathered in Town Squares and neighbors became life-long friends, according to its developer Michael Cheezem. Homes are designed with front porches and rear garages with shared green spaces in a pedestrian-friendly layout to foster friendships.
Live/work units over shops in the Town Center, outdoor events in the Town Square and concerts and plays in the pavilion fill in the vision for the 173-acre property. More than one-third of its 173 acres is dedicated to green spaces and wetlands with a foot bridge crossing the creek to Nettles Park.
"It is not a gated community; it welcomes the whole Upstate with its central amenity, the lifelong learning center and town square," Cheezem said.
Patrick Square is also a green community. The developer and builders are pursuing EarthCraft Community www.earthcrafthouse.com certification for sustainable residential development.
EarthCraft's Christina Corley joined Mayor Larry Abernathy and South Carolina State Senator Thomas Alexander and Clemson University's Dean Larry Allen and other dignitaries in a ground breaking ceremony in late March. Patrick Square opened its sales center on March 17 and had already taken 20 reservations by mid April.
