WITHIN THE COMMERCIAL construction market, growth in the office sub-sector continues to reign supreme. Through the first nine months of 2000, total spending for office building new construction and renovation work was running 13% ahead of the January-September 1999 total.

September 2000 spending for new office building construction was more than 17% greater than during the same month a year earlier. This was the best over-the-year gain recorded by the sector in the past 13 months.
