MOM's - My Organic Market to Anchor Atlantic Realty's Columbia East Marketplace in Howard County, MD.
JESSUP, Md. -- Atlantic Realty Companies (www.arcrealty.com), one of the largest real estate developers in the Washington/Baltimore region, is welcoming anchor tenant MOM's - My Organic Market a regional organic food market, to Atlantic's Columbia East Marketplace community retail center at the Rt.1/175 intersection in Howard County, MD, less than 1 mile from Interstate 95. MOM's joins Goodwill, Inc, which has taken 14,000 sq. feet, at the 172,000 sq. foot, Class A retail property. In addition, Atlantic has signed letters of intent with other retailers including Quiznos Subs, the Hair Cuttery, a well-known national coffee company, and a national fitness club.
The Rockville, MD-based MOM's, which has signed a lease for 8,115 sq, feet, has three additional locations in the metropolitan area. Founded in 1987, the company's market niche is providing high quality organic produce, great prices and remarkable customer service. Alli Oliver of StreetSense represented MOM's in the transaction, and Wendy Blair and Douglas Kington at Kington Commercial, LLC represented the landlord.
"Our new location at Columbia East Marketplace is a perfect fit for MOM's. We'll be expanding into a dynamic new market, which we think has been underserved, and we'll be close to existing suppliers. In addition, MOM's will help revitalize the surrounding area, which is a key part of our corporate philosophy," said Scott Nash, founder of MOM's.
Since acquiring Columbia East Marketplace in 2005, Atlantic Realty has completed a $9 million renovation of the property, which is comprised of two buildings of 156,000 sq. feet and 16,000 sq. feet located on 14 acres at the intersection of US Route 1 and Maryland 175 in Jessup, MD. The new and improved community retail center is playing a key role in the revitalization of the Rt. 1 Corridor in Howard County.
"We have dramatically transformed the property and as expected it is drawing a variety of retailers with products and services that will truly make it an asset to the community and its families. Columbia East Marketplace is an especially good value for smaller, community-based retailers, like MOM's, looking for an alternative to higher-priced locations in the area," said David A. Ross, president of Atlantic Realty. With a portfolio of over five million square feet of office and retail properties valued at more than $1 billion, the Vienna, VA-based real estate firm has extensive experience in developing retail centers including Ashbrook Commons, a 200,000 sq. foot community retail center in Ashburn, VA, and Plaza America, a 1.2 million sq. foot, mixed use complex in Reston, VA which includes a 165,000 sq. foot community shopping center, as well as the retail village centers at Hunters Woods and Tall Oaks in Reston, VA.
