May 10--Scarce land around The Streets at Southpoint is encouraging developers to pay a heavy markup for room to build.
Ohio developer Midland Atlantic paid $10.2 million for 38 acres adjacent to the west side of Durham's largest mall, where it plans a shopping center anchored by a Super Target.
That comes to a little more than $268,000 an acre, far higher than most land sales of that size.
