The Jewish Diaspora is very ancient, indeed. It goes back to the exile of the Northern Kingdom of Israel by the Assyrians in 722 BCE -- a cluster that was lost to us forever. The next Diaspora was the Babylonian settlement beginning around 598 BCE, and that community survived and flourished until the 1950s. Subsequently, the Jewish dispersion extended to virtually every continent and land as the scattered people truly took on the role of the wandering
