Membership Blitz 2000!

The National Apartment Association launched a membership marketing campaign in April in an effort to recruit new members and promote NAA membership benefits. Thousands of non-member multifamily housing professionals were mailed a letter and brochure inviting them

NAA membership has steadily increased in recent years and now represents over 4.1 million apartment homes. This mailing is the initial step in a membership recruitment and retention campaign that will move NAA closer toward reaching the membership outreach goals established by the NAA Board of Directors.

"We want our top-quality resources to be utilized by multifamily professionals in every state in the U.S.," says NAA Executive Vice President Doug Culkin, CAE, CIC. "By increasing our membership numbers and unit representation, we will have a greater impact on the federal legislative process. I hope that hundreds of companies see the value of becoming connected to our national network of industry representation, advocacy and education."

The NAA mailing was sent to thousands of property owners, managers and suppliers in the states where there are no current affiliated apartment associations. The contents of the package include a letter from NAA President Jim Hepfner, CAPS, CPM, a brochure outlining NAA benefits and services and a membership "activation" form and return envelope. Property management companies, communities and property owners were invited to join NAA and attend the NAA Education Conference in New Orleans June 22-24.

Marketing General, Inc. (MGI), a professional direct mail company in Alexandria, Va., is managing the campaign. MGI specializes in association direct mail membership recruitment campaigns, and has a direct member marketing campaign.
