The president has nominated Navy Rear Adm. Michael F. Lohr for appointment as judge advocate general of the Navy. Lohr is currently deputy judge advocate general.

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Vern Clark announced the following assignments:

Rear Adm. John D. Stufflebeem is

being assigned as commander of Carrier Group Two. Stufflebeem, who frequently conducts Pentagon news briefings, is deputy director for readiness and capabilities (J38) on the Joint Staff.

Rear Adm. Charles L. Munns is being named director of the Navy and Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI). Munns is commander of Submarine Group Eight and allied submarines in the Mediterranean.

Rear Adm. Paul J. Ryan is the new commander of the Mine Warfare Command. Ryan currently is director of warfare programs and readiness (N8) for the Atlantic Fleet.

Rear Adm. James G. Stavrides is to become director of the Naval Operations Group (N3/N5) OPNAV, in Washington, D.C. Stavrides is deputy director for requirements assessment (N81/director), commander in chief liaison division (N83), OPNAV.

The president has nominated Air Force Maj. Gen. John R. Baker to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as vice commander of the Air Mobility Command in Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Baker currently is assistant deputy chief of staff for air and space operations at Air Force headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Air Force Col. Roseanne Bailey, director of the Aging Aircraft System Program Office, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, has been promoted to the rank of brigadier general. Bailey previously served as armament product group manager at the Air Armament Center at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.
