Ohio: MENTALLY ILL CONSUME 1/3 OF HEALTH BUDGET

Treatment for mental illness consumes nearly one-third of the Corrections Department's annual health care budget of $60 million.

The department in the last fiscal year provided mental health care for almost 8,400 inmates-18 percent of the prison population.
