West Virginia's Regional Jail Authority announced its intention to locate sites for two private prisons.
National Corrections Corp. proposes to construct a 2,000-bed prison at a cost of $120 million in Logan County. The prison would be located on the site of an abandoned coal mining operation.
NCC said the facility would hold both state and federal inmates.
The second prison at Pence Springs would be a mediumsecurity facility under federal contract for 500 inmates.
