Nevada: Capital punishment moratorium gains

The Assembly began consideration of a Senate-passed bill that would impose a moratorium on capital punishment until July 2003.

Senate Bill 254 would continue to allow executions of inmates who voluntarily choose to die.

The bill also calls for the legislature to conduct a study on all

aspects of the death penalty, including why minorities and indigents are disproportionately represented.
