Think HR doesn't have much to say about top executives' salaries?

Think again. As top executives have become increasingly expensive, their compensation packages have become exponentially complex. At the same time, many of the boards of directors that compensate them have come under

increasing scrutiny from recent years of lagging financial performance and fallout from the Enron/Andersen accounting scandal.

As a result, boards' compensation committees need all the advice and expertise they can get--and that should come from HR.
