India Takes Action to Phase Out ODS in the Textile Industry.
Garment, textile and fashion website fibre2fashion.com recently reported that the Textiles Committee of India has conducted a workshop on the use of ozone-depleting stain removal substances in the country's textile industry.
According to fibre2fashion.com, the workshop was aimed at introducing alternative chemicals and suggesting action to help phase out the industry's use of ozone-depleting substances (ODS).
"India is well on track with regard to phasing out CFC (chloroflurocarbon) and CTC (carbon tetrachloride) and this is something we should be aware of, that India is not keeping behind rather it is the other way around and India is well on track," said Markus Wypior, program manger of German development agency GTZ. "India is steadily moving towards phasing out ozone depleting substances."
