RECYCLED BREAKWATERS WON'T TIRE' OF PROTECTING MARINA

When a new marina was planned for Navajo Lake State Park in Arboles, CO, the primary focus was both to protect the marina from the four- to five-foot waves that could develop over the lake and to contain the cost of the breakwaters to be installed. Lake Powell Resorts and Marinas Construction Division, a part of Aramark Parks and Resorts of Page, AZ, used surplus heavy-equipment tires and cylindrical floats from Premier Materials Technology, Minneapolis, MN, as an economical alternative to rocks or concrete to construct the two new breakwaters.
