I-T conducts survey on Sahara's para-banking activities.

Feb. 3--The income tax department on Thursday carried out a limited survey of the Sahara India group's para-banking activities. Sources said the survey was undertaken in Sahara offices in states like Assam, MP, Bihar and West Bengal.

The survey follows the audit ordered by RBI last year into Sahara India Financial Corporation, the country's largest para-banking company.

RBI had hired KPMG for the assignment, after which the consulting firm had scanned the books of the residuary nonbanking company. Earlier, RBI had issued a set of guidel
