EBSCO Publishing has announced that it has teamed with ABC-CLIO to offer specific, full-text reference databases covering world history. Through this arrangement, the companies will develop co-branded databases utilizing content from both partners. This series of databases will leverage the strengths
ABC-CLIO is a producer of highly specialized, subject-specific bibliographic databases for the humanities and social sciences. The company offers several databases covering particular periods and events in world history. EBSCO offers nearly 100 databases containing thousands of full-text journals. The companies will select appropriate sources from ABC-CLIO's collection, incorporate full text from EBSCO's library of journals, and offer databases via the EBSCOhost search service.
According to Tim Collins, EBSCO Publishing's vice president and general manager, developing a series of history databases had been discussed for quite a while. He said: "EBSCO is thrilled about the opportunity to work closely with a well-respected company like ABC-OLIO. They have established themselves as the leading resource for reference materials relating to history. The new history fulltext product line will fit nicely alongside our popular general, reference, health, and business periodical databases. We could not choose a better partner to reach our goals in this area."
