MARIA GIUDICE: There are a few principles to follow when designing your own website. The first one is to keep your message short and succinct on your website: who are you, what do you do, and how are you different are the three things you should be thinking of constantly when people are visiting your website. Studies have shown recently that viewers make split decisions about whether they are interested in your brand or not in the blink of an eye. So that means that when somebody gets to your website you have a very short time to impress them and for them to really understand who you are, how you’re different, and what you do. Another big mistake that small businesses make is pretending that they are bigger than they really are. XX and Associates, We, Our Team…. Well, if you’re a one-person business you should be proud that you are a one-person business and use that as an asset, not something to hide behind, because it doesn’t ring true, so I think authenticity is truly important.
