The Institute's Public Practice Advisory Committee (PPAC) recently conducted a survey to ascertain the needs of members in small to medium practice in the 21st century. Succession planning was identified as a key area where support was urgently required from both a strategic and implementation viewpoint.

response to this need, the Institute has developed the Succession Planning Toolkit, a practical and comprehensive guide to help accountants plan and implement the future of their practice. The toolkit provides step-bystep strategies to help maximise profitability and actively seek out and interest a third party for succession. In addition, self-assessment checklists and planning forms are included on CD-ROM and can be customised to suit individual circumstances.
