NADCA study looks at alternative fuel vehicles

Publication: Foundry Management & Technology

The North American Die Casting Association is offering "A Report on Alternative Fuel Vehicles," a research effort prepared by industry veteran William Butler that examines the automotive industry's progress in developing alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs), and what these developments mean for diecasters.

According to NADCA, about 70% of aluminum diecasters are suppliers to automotive customers.

Butler's report looks at how that dependence will be affected by changes in automotive technology. In its 50 pages, it looks at the alternative fuel choices available, how each works, the environmental impact, and the "energy density." It goes on to report the various environmental regulations that are spurring the research, and federal and state incentives (i.e., tax breaks) for customers who choose AFVs. Finally, the report looks at concept vehicles developed by various automakers.

NADCA's "Report on Alternative Fuel Vehicles" (item # 208) is available only via the group's Web site, www.diecasting.org, and is priced at $100.00.
