Women in Business: Rita L. Reicher

Rita L. Reicher, president of KS&R, discusses the challenges she faced.

Who has been the most influential person in your career?

Ann C. Michel. She was the first to hire me out of graduate school. She was one of the key driving forces behind the establishment and

growth of KS&R. Unfortunately, she lost a battle with cancer two-and-ahalf years ago...a great loss to this community and to KS&R.

What is your advice to other women who want to succeed?

Believe in yourself and surround yourself with others who believe in you and support you.

What do you think is the greatest challenge facing women in business in the next five years?

As baby boomers begin to retire in the next 5-10 years, there will be an increasing number of high-level management and technical positions opening up for those perceived as the best and the brightest. The greatest challenge facing women in business, who are interested in making it to the top, is to make sure gender is not a criteria for getting there.

What are the three most memorable highlights of your career? My first job interview with Ann Michel...she was tough. Founding, together with five other people, KS&R. Having key involvement in the establishment of a multimillion dollar client relationship.
