General Mills Honored as Top Company by Latina StyleMagazine.

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 23, 1999--

General Mills has been named on LATINA Style magazine's annual 50 best Companies for Hispanic Women to Work For list. This comes on the heels of General Mills being selected by HISPANIC Magazine as one of their 1999 Hispanic Corporate 100 companies.

"Being selected as one of the 50 Best Companies for Hispanic Women to Work For reflects well on the vision we have established for our company as we have moved into the next millennium," said General Mills Chairman and CEO Steve Sanger. "It's a great honor to have our name on this list."

This is the second year of the list, which names the top 50 companies providing the best professional opportunities for Latinas. The honorees were selected as a result of a comprehensive survey sent to Fortune 500 companies and other key companies active in the Hispanic community. Companies were evaluated on issues identified by LATINA Style readers including mentoring programs, educational opportunities, dependent/child care support, leave for childbirth, benefits, women's issues and Hispanic relations. Confidential interviews conducted with Latinas throughout corporate America complimented these surveys.

General Mills is hosting a Cheerios(TM) booth with product samples and health information (No.1115) at the National Council of LaRaza conference being held July 24-28 at the George Brown Convention Center in Houston. The National Council of LaRaza (NCLR) is a private, non-profit, non-partisan, tax-exempt organization established in 1968 "to empower Hispanics and build a community-based constituency predicated on mutual respect and accountability" to reduce poverty and discrimination.

LATINA Style is a national magazine for Latina professionals, college students, and business owners. With a readership of over half a million, it is the only national 100 percent Latina-owned publication on the market.

General Mills is a leading manufacturer and marketer of consumer food products, with annual sales exceeding $6 billion. The company's leading brand names include Cheerios, Total and Wheaties cereals, Betty Crocker desert, side dish and dinner mixes, Pop Secret microwave popcorn, Gold Medal Flour, and Yoplait and Columbo yogurt. The company's expanding international operations include joint ventures focused on ready-to-eat cereals worldwide, snack foods in Europe and in China, and baking and dessert mixes in Latin America.
