Blogging for Women Can Be a Lucrative Career Choice

Women bloggers are everywhere, blogging for fun or turning personal memoirs into careers. Whether you enjoy blogging about your life, reading blogs written by others in similar situations or are simply interested in how you can turn your blog into a money maker, these sites might serve as inspiration - and just plain fun!

I've mentioned the great benefits of blogging for your business, but just recently began to explore the other side of blogging: Personal Blogs.

I have kept a blog for a while that details my marathon training while raising two young children. It began as a personal memoir of sorts, and as a training log, so I could look back and see how things were going as I trained, and so I could relate stories about marathon training while I was doing it. As a working mom it is tough to sit down and write with pen and paper; this allowed me to get my thoughts on paper much more quickly.

The blog was recently picked up on Wellsphere, and now my posts are posted on that site as well. Suddenly, this little blog that no one really paid much attention to, except for me, is getting some notice. It sparked some interest in me. What other blogs are out there that began as a little personal blog and turned into something much, much more?

Seems that this is kind of common nowadays.

One day I happened to stumble across BlogHer, which allows users to post topics and comment to one another. You can also post your writings from a personal blog, and they may be picked up and placed on the front page. BlogHer recently held a conference in San Francisco. Suddenly, this little site I had never known about turned into this mammoth blogging-sphere for women, and now I am addicted. I visit at least several times a day to see what is being posted.

BlogHer offers a wide variety of blogs written by and for females. Topics such as politics, relationships, fitness and cooking are covered. If you enjoy reading other's words, you'll have a great time; and if you are like me you will probably spend an inordinate amount of time perusing the blogs.

Then I found this article on Rebook's website, which features six blogging women who are making a career out of writing a blog. These women began as personal blog writers for the most part and built up their blogs so that now they are making money on them.

Not too bad, right?

Whether you blog for fun or hope to turn your words into ones that receive some compensation, or even if you just enjoy reading other blogs, these links may help you get to where you want to go in the world of women bloggers.

Have a great weekend, Working Moms (and Dads!)
