Feb. 3--Is knitting the new yoga? In a survey commissioned by the American Craft Yarn Council, women compared the therapeutic repetitive looping of threads together to the relaxing effect of yoga.
The pursuit is catching on among young women. Village Stitchery, a 25-year-old yarn, needlepoint and art-framing shop in the Hilton business district of Newport News, is having trouble keeping up with increased demand, said Sheila Rubin, store owner.
