Boeing chooses Goodrich for 747-8 parts.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2006 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

US aircraft manufacturer Boeing Co (NYSE: BA) announced on Wednesday (5 April) that it has selected Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) to provide the nose, wing and body landing gear,

and also wheels and brakes, for the new 747-8 aircraft.

According to Goodrich it will redesign its technologies to support the higher gross weight of the 747-8 commercial and freighter variants. Redesign efforts for the landing gear will focus on changes in structure and materials and will reportedly take advantage of the latest surface treatment technologies.

Goodrich's Wheel and Brake team in Troy, Ohio will produce a new wheel and carbon brake for the aircraft.

Goodrich Corporation is a global supplier of systems and services to aerospace, defence and homeland security markets.
