AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2006 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Members of the Paris Local Council for the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO has unanimously adopted a resolution to direct their leaders to prepare for a strike.

The union said that under French law workers have a constitutional right to strike.

The decision has been prompted by a recent announcement from United Airlines regarding the closure of the Paris domicile effective 1 May 2006.

According to the union, the airline is attempting to close the domicile in a way that purposely denies workers access to French social benefits, such as unemployment benefit, which are provided by the government.
