Royal Air Maroc has said that it plans to expand its routes in Africa.

The airline reportedly holds majority stakes in the national airlines of Senegal and Gabon. Morocco's transport minister Karim Ghalab has said that the central part of the airline's development is the African gap in the market, with the Casablanca hub being a key element in the strategy.

According to Agence France-Presse, Royal Air Maroc has held a 51% stake in Air Senegal since 2000 and on 29 December 2005 it announced that the Gabon government had chosen it for holding a 51% stake in Air Gabon international.
