Toronto's Pearson International Airport has indicated that it will be charging a new airport improvement fee that will be added to passengers' ticket price.

The fee will come into effect on 1 June 2001 and is

expected to raise about CAD100m per year. It will mean that passengers leaving Toronto will pay CAD10, while those who stop at Pearson while waiting for onward travel will pay CAD7. The funds will help pay for a redevelopment programme for the airport, according to The Associated Press.
