Air Greenland to take over SAS route to Copenhagen.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Greenland's national carrier Air Greenland has received a four-year contract to operate monthly flights between the Thule Air Base in Greenland and Copenhagen, Denmark.

The airline will carry passengers and cargo

between Pituffik, the airport at Thule in northern Greenland, and the Danish capital via Greenland's Kangerlussuaq international airport, reports The Associated Press.

The route is currently operated by Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and Air Greenland will run the services from 1 February.

The contract has been valued at USD145m.
