A British citizen was detained at Sao Paulo's International Airport, Brazil on Wednesday (3 December) in possession of 900 grams of cocaine.

The 52-year-old was preparing to board a flight bound for Australia when the drug was found concealed in a false bottom in the man's suitcase. According to police, the man planned to disembark the flight in Johannesburg, South Africa, while the suitcase would continue as unaccompanied luggage to Sydney, Australia.

The man - who was apparently given the cocaine by a Nigerian trafficker - will be charged with international drug trafficking which carries up to 13 years imprisonment, reported The Associated Press.
