Ryanair ordered to change contract conditions and advertising by Nordic consumer protection...

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Irish no-frills airline Ryanair has been ordered to change its contract conditions and price advertising by four Nordic consumer protection agencies.

The Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish consumer agencies

claims that the carrier has been attacking the region's flag carrier SAS in its aggressive marketing campaigns, saying it offers significantly lower prices than SAS. The agencies have stated that Ryanair should use prices including all taxes and charges in its marketing.

The agencies also want the airline to allow passengers to transfer tickets to another person, provide compensation if a flight is delayed and provide contract conditions in Finnish and at least one Scandinavian language.

The demands, laid out in a letter to the airline, are designed to make Ryanair's contract conditions and price advertising fair and reasonable, reported Reuters.
