Northwest Airlines has added Best Western International to its list of WorldPerks hotel partners. WorldPerks frequent flyer members will be able to earn 250 bonus miles for each qualifying stay at any Best Western hotel
Gulf Air has agreed to use the Sabre Passenger Reservation System from Sabre Holdings Corporation for an another five years. Gulf Air, which is based in Bahrain, has used Sabre since 1989.
Airbus Industrie has apparently received an order from China Eastern Airlines for five A340-600 widebody aircraft priced at more than USD800m. Confirmation of the order is expected this week.
Wayport Inc has introduced a new wireless Internet connection service at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport that will allow any passenger who has a computer equipped with a wireless Ethernet card to access the service. Wayport Inc intends to offer the service at up to 50 airports within the next 12 months.
JetBlue Airways has launched a summer fare sale and is offering tickets between New York City and Orlando and Tampa/St Petersburg from USD59 one-way. The `Red, White and JetBlue ` sale is available for travel through 6 September, with tickets to be purchased by 5 July. Other fares are also available and restrictions apply.
The Shanghai Development Bank of China is to become the first bank to open an office at the new financial services centre at Pudong International Airport. This bank will also be joined in the five-story centre by Shanghai Bank and Guangdong Development Bank. All banks hope also to establish smaller outlets in the airport terminal building in the future according to Alestron Inc.
The Alberta Court of Queen`s Bench in Canada has approved a Plan of Compromise and Arrangement proposed for the restructuring of Canadian Airlines` debts under the Companies` Creditors Arrangement Act. The plan has been deemed fair, reasonable and just. The decision has been welcomed by Air Canada, which is currently in the process of a merger with the carrier.
A multi-year contract for the provision of an on-site parking service at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport has been awarded to Ampco System Parking, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ABM Industries Incorporated.
