AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
The Brazilian government is planning to privatise Infraero, the Brazilian airports facilities management company.
The privatisation will apparently occur after the government creates a new civil aviation agency called Anac and introduces a new aeronautics law.
It is expected that Infraero will embark upon an airport expansion programme prior to privatisation and is already attempting to attract some BRR400 from private investors to upgrade the international airport in Sao Paulo according to Jornal do Comercio.
In Rio de Janeiro the company is planning to link the international and national terminals with USD2m from the Star Alliance grouping of carriers, while a new rail link is planned for the two airports in the State of Minas Gerais.
