Norwegian consumer ombudsman demands withdrawal of Ryanair campaign.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

The Norwegian consumer ombudsman wants to stop the most recent advertising campaign by the budget airline Ryanair as it allegedly contains deceptive information.

The airline reportedly advertises that its prices

are "at least 94% cheaper than SAS's so-called low prices" and the consumer ombudsman has said this is deceptive and against the regulations on comparative advertising.

The ombudsman has demanded that the airline withdraw the campaign immediately and that similar adverts are not used in the future. If the airline fails to comply it risks large fines, according to the Norwegian news service NTB.
