Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Aviation has pledged to continue its efforts to make the country's airports safe, decent and free of corruption.

According to the Post Express, a Ministry official told a two-day workshop

for aviation chief executives and directors that 'moral discipline' was required to assist the government in refurbishing facilities at Nigeria's airports. He said the action was in compliance with the President's directive last year that the country's airports should be made user-friendly whilst at the same time ensuring that corruption is eradicated.

The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria said later that the Authority was working towards raising standards at Murtala Muhammed International airport (MMIA) to become one of the 'most outstanding 50 airports in the world'. He added that runways at MMIA, Mallam Aminu Kano (MAKA) and Port Harcourt Airport (PHA) would be resurfaced before the end of the year.
