Lufthansa fails to form pay agreement with cabin and ground staff.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

German airline Lufthansa has reportedly failed to form a new pay agreement with its cabin and ground crew.

Verdi - the union representing some 52,000 Germany-based workers - is demanding a 9% pay raise and a share

of profits for its cabin and ground workers. The union has already staged a brief strike this month to protest against the company's previous offer.

The fifth round of negotiations is said to have broken down as Lufthansa announced plans to cut its European schedule, reported The Associated Press.
