The "shoe bomber", Richard Reid, is expected to be sentenced today (30 January) for attempting to blow up a flight from Paris to Miami in December 2001.

Reid's lawyers have reportedly made a last-minute appeal

to delay his sentencing. The 29-year-old faces a 60-years to life prison sentence for using a destructive device during a crime of violence; attempted murder; and attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction.

Reid's legal team requested a postponement last night (29 January) for sentencing on all but one of the charges.

It is currently unknown when Reid's punishment will be issued, reported PA News.
