According to a recent report by consulting company Frost & Sullivan, airports globally are preparing to accommodate the entry of the Airbus A380 in 2007 by investing billions of dollars in facilities enlargement.
The report however notes that the investments related to the A380 comprise only a small part of the total spending aimed at meeting the requirements of increasing air traffic.
The report by Frost & Sullivan research analyst Kamila Zlobinska, named "World Airports Markets - Impact of the A380" also states that nearly 60 airports in the world will be able to accommodate the A380 by 2010, although the aircraft is expected to use only 40-50 airports.
The A380 is the largest aircraft to enter the air transportation market. The worldwide investment to prepare airport facilities to handle the new aircraft is expected to exceed USD8bn by 2015.
