Shoe bomber requests uncensored subscription to Time.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2002 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Richard Reid, otherwise known as the "shoe bomber", has reportedly asked a US judge to let him have an uncensored subscription to Time magazine.

Reid - who has pleaded guilty to attempting to blow up a transatlantic

flight on 22 December 2001 - made the request after prison officials recently removed an article titled "Al Qaeda: Alive and Starting to Kick Again" from Reid's copy of Time. The 29-year-old also asked for a radio in his prison cell, however the request was denied as the Justice Department forbids him from having batteries.

Reid is scheduled to appear in court on 8 January 2003 for sentencing. He faces between 60 years and life in prison for attempting to blow up the American Airlines aircraft.
