New Zealand airport considers upgrades for A380.

Christchurch International Airport in New Zealand is examining the feasibility of upgrading its facilities to accommodate the new Airbus A380 superjumbo aircraft.

Recent work on international parking gates at Christchurch

enabled two gates to accommodate the A380. The airport is currently studying the needs in terms of the runways and taxiways in order to be A380-compatible, said the airport's chief executive.

At least three airlines that regularly use Christchurch, that is Qantas, Emirates and Singapore Airlines, were committed to buying the A380, reported the New Zealand Herald.
