Northwest Airlines launches web site for travel agent bookings.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2002 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Northwest Airlines has established a web site for use by travel agents, featuring the same fares that it offers to consumers through its main site.

Northwest's WorldAgent Direct site was developed in response to

travel agents' complaints that they are unable to offer customers the same low fares that the airline does to people who buy directly from its public web site, http://www.nwa.com.

Northwest Airlines said that the site would provide US travel agents with features and services unmatched in the airline industry, including free and unrestricted access to its web fares, simplified reporting, and complete online booking capabilities. The airline plans to expand access to the WorldAgent Direct site to travel agents based in Canada and Mexico in the near future.

The site, located at http://www.worldagentdirect.com, will begin operation on 22 October and travel agents will not be charged to use it.
