Mexican carrier Mexicana de Aviacion is to replace a damaged roof after part of an engine fell off an aircraft during flight.

The unidentified disc-shaped piece of engine reportedly fell off the aircraft during

a flight from Guadalajara airport. The engine part sliced through the roof of a Mexican family home, but fortunately no one was injured. The airline has offered to repair the damage to the roof and to re-paint the house.

According to the airline the damage to the engine occurred about 20 minutes after the Boeing 727 departed, and is thought to have been caused by an unidentified object entering the engine.

As a precautionary measure the aircraft aborted its flight and landed safely back at Guadalajara airport, reported Reuters.
